His Promise: A Bow in the Sky

The Inspiration

The water had been everything. For forty days there was no horizon, no ground, no reason to believe the world had ever been solid — and then it receded, and what filled the sky wasn't an apology. It was a promise, put there on purpose, for a people who had every reason to flinch the next time it rained.

A bow is a weapon. Set in the clouds and turned upward, pointed away, it stops being one.

The Piece

An arc of color spans the full width of the sky, unbroken — not the sharp bands of a diagram but soft, bleeding into each other and into the gray behind them, the way light actually behaves through water. Below, the tone shifts cooler and heavier. The ark sits small against all that space, resolving out of the haze rather than being placed in it, close enough to make out and far enough to remind you of the scale of what just happened. The eye goes to the arc first, then falls, then climbs back.

Materials

Printed on artist-grade canvas and hand-stretched over 1.5" solid wood stretcher bars. Gallery wrapped, so the image continues around the sides — no frame required. Made to order and arrives ready to hang.

Choosing Your Size

20 × 30 — Intimate
Entryways, hallways, home offices, above a nightstand or reading chair. Best where the viewer stands close. Also the right choice if you're building a gallery wall and want this piece in conversation with others rather than dominating.

24 × 36 — The Room's Anchor
Our most-chosen size. Above a console table, a sideboard, a bed, or a mantel. Substantial enough to hold a wall on its own, restrained enough not to overwhelm a standard room. If you're unsure, this is the one.

40 × 60 — Statement
Above a full sofa, in a two-story entry, on a long open wall, or in a primary bedroom with room to breathe. Wants at least eight feet of viewing distance to do its work. This is the size that changes a room rather than decorating it.

A quick rule: hanging above furniture, aim for artwork roughly two-thirds the width of the piece below it. Hang the center at about 57–60 inches from the floor — standard gallery eye level.
